Godric Crook

A novel in rhyming couplets depicting the adventures of Godric Crook, a victim of vivisection at the hands of his mad professor father. Part human, part monitor lizard, part vulture and part antelope, his appearance is so gruesome that he is cast out of human society and enters the welcoming and intriguing world of the animals in Coneycroft Bottom. Here he meets his friend, Melancholia Gloom, and learns of the animals’ struggle to save their harmonious existence from the villainous intentions of the cats, who have seduced the humans into doing their destructive and dirty work for them.

Godric soon discovers from the animals’ badger figurehead, King Galligaskin, that he might be the only one who can save the animals from enslavement, and embarks on a wild and dangerous mission to convince the foolish humans of his own supernatural powers and so undermine the evil cats. Encountering various characters along the way, including the ghastly Bilious Curd, his long lost mother, and the ‘girl’ of his dreams, Godric eventually succeeds in his epic goal in a brutal battle with the dastardly cats and humans.

The masterplan with this project is to create a rhythmical, atmospheric spoken word soundscape/soundtrack, to be performed live with accompanying cinematic animation. One day.
